Good News!!!

This has been a fairly stressful week. I have not communicated well with folks and that has led to some stress in my life. Without making excuses, I think everybody I know on the Gulf Coast is under greater stress than what we might normally expect. Can you say "understatement" here?

At any rate, part of my higher stress levels has to be related to weight gain. Certainly, the more weight I acquire, the worse I feel and the less able I am to handle stress in any aspect of my life. Again, that’s no excuse, its just something I need to overcome.

Sooooo, it’s back to trying to regulate what I eat and getting daily exercise. Do I want to lose weight? Yes, I do, but more importantly, I want a balanced life where difficulties are not so debilitating and stressful.

And as the title of this post implies, there is good news this week. Casey’s adoption process is finally over. The judge signed the final adoption decree this past Tuesday morning at 9:00AM. We are celebrating that fact. Praise God with us!

Still, there is more good news. News that didn’t begin or end this week. The news of course is Jesus Christ–savior of the world.

I am so thankful to belong to the one who can take my life–greatly flawed and mistake prone–and make it a thing of grace and beauty. I am so thankful to belong to the One who asks me to bring my burdens to Him.

The problem is that too often my stress and frustration comes from the simple fact of my not giving burdens away–I want to be the fixer and the worrier and the diplomat. Sometimes I do those things well. Sometimes I do not.

Today I am determined to turn over a new leaf. To not only get my eating and weight under control, but to also live in view of the promises of God.

May God bless us all with his grace–grace we sorely need! May God also help us be dispensers of grace as well!
